MoreLessGo: Guide to Estimation and Decisions

The More–Less–Go Frame in Detail

The frame applies to any activity that keeps asking for a decision: a gym routine, a side project, a subscription, a weekly meeting. 'More' means the current effort is below the threshold where returns appear, so the honest move is to invest properly. 'Less' means the activity returns less than it costs, so the honest move is to shrink it deliberately rather than let it decay. 'Go' means the current level is right, so the honest move is to protect it from further deliberation.

What the frame refuses to allow is the default: continuing at the same level while continuing to feel undecided about it. That state has the costs of all three options and the benefits of none. A useful habit is to schedule the question — revisit the decision monthly or quarterly, decide more, less, or go, and then treat the matter as closed until the next scheduled review.
